Back to Nature

I was born in Delhi and earned my Master of Fine Arts from Jamia Millia Islamia. From an early age, I have felt a deep and enduring bond with nature — one that has profoundly shaped both my life and my artistic journey. My boyhood was spent wandering the wild trails of Jahanpanah City Forest, where I developed a lasting intimacy with the natural world.

The reflections of trees and sky in still pools, the dew-laden leaves swaying in the wind, the fluttering of birds in play, and the golden sunlight filtering through dense foliage — these images etched themselves into my soul. Whether it was the changing colours of dawn and dusk or the quiet stillness under a grove, I have always felt that I am not separate from nature but part of it — that the spirit animating these elements flows through me as well.

For me, communion with nature is a form of communion with the divine. I often return to a quiet inner voice that says, “Why are you so restless? I am always with you; walk with me, hand in hand to eternity.” This gentle reminder becomes the essence that flows through my brush onto the canvas.

Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by the magnetic pull of nature’s colours — vibrant, organic, and ever-changing. I would often escape to remote forests to experience their energy and silence. Even as a child, I found joy in collecting colourful pebbles from hilly paths and streambeds — each one a fragment of nature's poetry.

I believe deeply in the healing power of nature. The environment, in all its diversity, affects every living being — from the colours of flora and fauna to the rhythms of air, water, and earth. These elemental forces — air, water, soil, and vegetation — have become central themes in my recent work.

In my paintings, I strive to capture the shifting moods of nature. If you look closely, you might feel the breeze brushing past, sense the coolness of water, or find yourself walking down a narrow path into a dense forest. My preferred medium is acrylic, which allows me to express this vivid natural experience with immediacy and depth.

My artistic motto remains simple yet profound: Back to Nature.
